Yeah, I guess it does make a difference whether you are ex-services or not. I know when I first demobbed, I had to watch what I said to the people I was working with. No sense of humour 🙂

I'll go with what some of the others have said - just go with what you like and enjoy it. The older I get I realise too that even if I don't like it all personally and wouldn't play it, I hesitate to criticise what's honestly done (with a reservation on that Song for Europe thingy!).

On a matter of semantics Bill, I have no problem with the Latin plural as in "Fora", but I understand if some might prefer the modern Italian derivation "Bertolli".

Join a normal community concert band and you will find that your fellow band members are good company, friendly and supportive.

I've tried playing with a band like the one you describe and it was not for me either. They must all be the same.

Music is a lot of fun when you are playing with the right people.
