Just wrote a long post about how I've been finding Hartmann Fiberreeds. Pressed 'send' and it's disappeared. Can't be bothered writing it out again, so in summary, they play well, are a bit inconsistent, expensive and they make yer gob bleed.

Sorry to hear all that effort got wasted. This has happened to me and sometimes the back button on your browser can take you back to the post field.

What is it that makes your gob bleed, are they particularly sharp?

Tried the back thing, still couldn't find it. No matter, I'll post again another time.

For now, yes, they're really sharp on the edges. All three I've tried have caused a cut on my lip in line with the edge of the reed. Not serious, looks a bit more dramatic than it really is. Easily cured by a few strokes of 500 grade wet and dry along the edge of the reed.

They really do play well, especially the baritone original Fiberreed. Absolutely rocks.

Lots of forums (fora?) can be temperamental. If I'm ever doing a long post I do it in Word or similar first then cut'n'paste it into the message.

I've had that. It's a git!! I always tick the "Subscribe" box for a new posting - I've never lost a posting that way. I always copy and paste what I've done onto a word document before I hit the post button.
