I'm a shameless name dropper

OK ... you guys got me beat. I've been through an assortment of grammar books I have here (including the tedious Eats Shoots & Leaves) to try to figure out why some of you think RD's wife is called Ian. I also found a couple of on-line checkers which I gave the following to (because it has the same structure):

I spoke to John and his wife, Peter, William and a few others.

Nothing came up to point out an ambiguity. What am I missing (apart from not getting out enough!!). Should some of the commas be semi-colons ... or what?

I think you were right Mike. When Bob quoted your post, he cut off a part of it and this caused the confusion. If you go back and read the original post, it's much clearer!!!

Well that's put Bobby G, Albion Lass and me in our places.

I am now going to sob noisily until that nice Mr. Thomas comes back and gets you, Coughlin Junior.

Triple whammy coming up here.

1) My piano tuner tuned Rick Wakesmans piano when Yes played in Deeside Leisure Centre in the late 1970s.

2) I strummed Leslie Wests guitar whilst Leslie changed chords when I went to see Mountain in the Robin in Wolverhamton a couple of years back

3) I sold some plectrums to Lemmys roadie when Motorhead played a concert at Wrexham football ground ( the council banned all concerts from there after that - I feel somehow responsible !!)

I have let fame go to my head.....

Needless to say, I hope, I didn't mean it to come out so snottily. I noticed the accidental ambiguity myself, and sniggerd quietly. I was just trying to reassure losaavedra that he wasn't missing too much, and chose a poor phrase.

It's no good Coughlin, we hate you.

Now I'm going to get Nanny to change my nappy so that I'm a clean, gurgling baby when that nice Mr. Thomas gets back.

There we are, back on thread.
Nanny!
Bet you didn't have one.

As mentioned before, have gigged with Seasick Steve, lots....

Van Der Graaf Generator connections, way back...

Once went drinking with Fish (Ex-Marillion)in Paris. Really lovely guy.....

My dad used to share a flat in Leeds with Dick Heckstall Smith

Shane McGowan once threw up on my boots... :x

I met Fish once when I was about 17, I had a major crush on him back then lol.

I was once privileged to work and record with Gary Barnacle who took a liking to the band I played in and decided to sit in on a couple of numbers and played at a gig or two. Needless to say he completely kicked my a** and made my band members turn round and ask "Now why can't you play like that?"

When I was a teen my Oboe teacher was a neighbour of Jo Brown and got me in a backing Orchestra to Jo at a local gig. Really nice bloke. Since seen his daughter in concert - fantastic voice and personality.

It's war then. Ink blots and rulers at 20 paces, and if anyone tells Mr. Thomas they're a sissy!

Nannies? Good grief! We were too poor for anything like that. I was brought up by next door's cat, while my mother was down't pit. OK, we didn't have pits where I come from, but there were hollows...
