Guitar questions

If anyone can help with this issue I would greatly appreciate it.

I am relatively new to Logic and would like to record my electric guitar into Logic pro.

I have an Edirol UA-5 a GT-3 Boss effects rack and a G5 Mac

If I plug my guitar in through the edirol interface without using the GT-3 and use the onboard effects does this only work in mono or is there a way to record as stereo?

Is it better to use the GT-3 and use the stereo output of the GT-3 to then record in logic via the edirol interface?

I guess that what I am looking for is either an answer to these questions or advice on the best set up for recording electric guitar into logic without amps and mics.

I presume the GT-3 has a stereo output, but surely the input is mono as electric guitars tend to have a mono output.

So, if you are using Logic without the GT-3 you only need a mono input. The effects in Logic will often be mono in but stereo out (like the GT-3), but you still only record a mono signal, it's the effects that are added after that make it stereo.

I think which is best would be a matter of taste, but I find that Guitar Amp Pro in Logic is very very good and gives you more versatility as you can change seounds after recording, which you can't do if you record the output of an amp or effects rack.
