Sorry but - this thread has bugged me from the beginning, since his father was a schoolteacher and headmaster, he's probably restless and tossing and turning in the vaults, as a small gesture maybe we could spell the family name correctly.

Result! I hang my head in shame but have now rectified my mis-spelling of the splendid Mr Smith's name....

Wondrous news for fans of DHS.

I've just had an email reply from Eddie Martin saying DHS played on two of his CD's "Blue to the Bone" and "Fires and Floods". I've just ordered a copy of each and posted this link for anyone else who might wish to do the same.

I have also come across my copy of the double CD "A History of Progressive Blues" Dejawu Retro Gold Collection R2CD 42-58 on which there are three DHS tracks.

"If you don't love me" feat. John Mayall
"Millennium Blues" feat. Clem Clemson
"Rollin' And Tumblin'" feat. Paul Jones

These tracks may have been referred to earlier on this thread, or even be on the CD which comes with the "Blowing the Blues" book, I can't say regarding the book CD as I still can't find my copy.

Well Spike, judging by your previous post, misspellings of Heckstall bugs you. I think that's why you got the warning.

just finished the book, didn't find any typos, really enjoyable read, certainly takes me back to the sixties and seventies although my experiences were a coupl'a years later.
The chapter on racism was a little baffling.
As for the spelling, my thoughts were, who cares about the rest of the world, but that we as a saxophone community might show a little respect and take the trouble to spell his name correctly. End of story. Please cancel my subscription.
