Carrying Out Repairs Yourself?

Haynes are doing a Sax manual?

Oi, Haynes, you haven't done one for my car yet and it's been a constant on the road for eight years (it's a Chevrolet, nee Daewoo, Matiz). You took five years to do a manual for the Honda CB500 -- one of the most popular commuter bikes one can buy!! Get a grip and stop looking for the easy market!!!

Just bought a Honda XR250R off-road bike and Haynes don't cover my engine 'cos it's too complicated. Got a Clymer manual from the States, much better, totally comprehensive.

Good luck with your Haynes sax manual, I shan't be buying it, entirely because Haynes are producing it.

Rant over.

Wouldn't most Haynes Manuals these days, at least for newer vehicles, be a single sheet of paper with 'do not approach anything under the bonnet except the water filler cap, oh and maybe the oil, otherwise take it to any main dealer and get overcharged for a job half- or badly-done' written on it? Just like many many aspects of modern life motors have become just too darn complicated for their own good.

'Ere, Moz, a bit of a rant carn't half cheer you up, eh!?

I don't give a flying toss who publishes the manual, but I do have a hell of a lot of respect for Stephen Howard and his advice and experience as a repairman. The problem is if you don't buy this manual you might be robbing yourself the opportunity to learn some new skills.
What the hell is a Chevrolet/Daewoo? Why not buy yourself a proper Chev - Corvette, Camaro, Impala - the bigger the V8 the better.

Bob's right. Now days they just interface the car with a computer and hey presto it's tuned, hopefully.
My rant's over - until next time.

Regards,
Greg Strange.
