Its a good one. actually youtube's got loads of good music documentaries on it- found a cracker about Albert Ayler the other day tooThanks Jules, that was well worth a watch, made my day ;-)
Great player- he goes through a couple of phases- his early, swing stuff he sounds like a more aggressive Lester Young (apparently he was regarded as quite ‘punk’ in his playing back in the day), then in the 1960s he ‘blue note’ sleazy Hammond organ and tenor thing. Look out for an album called Soul Explosion from that era- it’s a corker.Okay, I like this. I like this a lot! Please tell me there's a Best Of somewhere out there because I need to hear more.
