I am relentlessly curious and trying to progress my Tenor MPC dilemma. Has anyone out there played both/either and is prepared to provide some useful feedback. I would be most grateful for any input, serious or otherwise!

Kind regards
Tom

with regard to the differences, it does what it says on the tin. It makes everything JUMBO!

The Javas are very nice, I play a T75. I find the Yanigasawas quite similar too. I found them very hard to choose between. I play a yani on my alto.

Talking of the Java T75, I bought one off ebay, just because it was there. Feels good, sounds great, but after a few minutes i'm knackered, out of breath. Only been playing for about eight months, maybe a bit too gappy for now. Feel it might have some good potential for the future when the old embouchure a bit more developed??

Hi PeeDee!

What reeds are you using? I tried playing a 7* tenor mpc with my usual Jazz Select 2H's but had to drop to 2M's to be able to play for a reasonable length of time. I have ordered a Java T55 as I am keen on a smaller gap/firmer reed combo for more contemporary sound, but have a bigger gap/softer reed combo for my Selmer Super Session H/ V16 T77 pieces for a more 'Jazzy' feel. What do I know?

Kind regards
Tom

Sounds you know a lot more than I do!
I'm using Rico 2 1/2 or Vandoren 2

It would be an idea to try something softer like a Rico 2/Java 2 or similar, which is quite common with more open facings.

Kind regards
Tom
Ok Tom thanks for advice
I will experiment accordingly. Might give the Java a go as not tried them yet. Java reed on a Java MPC must be good!

My recently ordered Java T55 Tenor MPC has arrived and sounds great. I gave it a good blast today using EVO-5 Lig/LaVoz MS's and was very pleased with it. I would have gone for the Jumbo equivalent but have recently acquired a SH V16 Metal Tenor, and will stop at that point.

I suppose I should buy some Java Reeds as well, in order to retain cred!

Kind regards
Tom
