As stated in another thread, (Oxford Allegro) I am reporting back on the above for people in the Northamptonshire area (and Bristol Bath Chippenham Swindon).

I would point out that I do not have any affiliation or othersuch relationship with Paul Egan Woodwind Repairs.

My partner recently made me feel guilty about leaving my trusty old Selmer Pennsylvania tenor in the garden shed for about 8 years, completely untouched.

I decided to take it into St Giles Music following Dooces recommendations. The old gal now sings sweetly once again, I'd forgotten what a great tone she has.

The best bit: General service replace several key corks, clean and lube rods, adjust venting, re-seat leaking pads and regulate all for ?65!

Not only is that good value for money, he's done a great job.

I can fully recommend this tech to anybody in the Bristol Bath Chippenham Swindon Northampton areas.

Nice one Paul.

Good to hear something positive!
After your dodgy experience with Allegro (dodgy car too, I know i had one) and my ongoing experience with Howarth's, re JJ HR mpc,
maybe a thread should be set up to name and shame dodgy dealers 8)

Hi Simon, Paul did my Oboe, complete re-pad and re-cork, setup and service.
Went from unplayable by anybody to just unplayable by me although it sounded fantastic when teacher play tested it, and all for ?125. Worth every penny I reckon.

He phoned me with a quote and to chat about it in detail before he did anything.

10/10 Have recommended him before and would do so again.

Col.

P.S I've just remembered your cd, its sat here addressed for a month just forgot to actually post it back. Sorry.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
