Toyo Tenor Sax

I recently purchased a used TOYO tenor sax, but though I have searched the internet, I cannot find any mention of this instrument.

Have any of you wise and knowing sages ever heard of this brand and can you give me any info on it?

There are no brandings on the sax other than the word "TOYO" and there is no serial number that I can find. Thanks

Never heard of them....but Yamaha has a factory near Hamamatsu called the Toyo-oka...could be an oblique reference?

With no other brandings and no serial number it's a reasonable bet it's an Ultra-Cheap Chinese horn...in which case it could be OK, or not, as the case may be.
The fact that nothing relevant comes up with a Google search suggests the company that branded them didn't last long...which doesn't bode well.
Best bet would be to get a tech to have a look over it.

Regards,

Thanks for all your responses, albeit most of them were jokes!
The sax plays well and for the $152 I paid for it I think I still got a good deal! Still, I would have liked to know some of it's history just for curiosity sake.

Thanks guys. 😉

Toyo is a very common Japanese name of many many factories producing all sorts of products but, frankly speaking and realistically, your tenorsax at 152$ can only be a Chinese (Vietnamese) saxophone with a fantasy brand name. That doesn't mean that it s bad ....just that probably there isn't any history to it, the absence of a serial number indicates, to me, the sure Chinese or Vietnamese provenance

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
