    Recording Recording Setup Advice

Wow, that’s an awesome sound you have, proves the point that the artist not equipment is the most essential component for a great recording. Still I’m in shock that a laptop mic can capture the fullness and detail in your playing. As a further note I’ve tried googling for the printed music “...

    Saying hello from Canada

Howdy and welcome from Canada’s west coast. I’ve also bought all 3 of Pete’s Taming books, they are very good and the backup video’s put the icing on the cake. Enjoy the cafe.

    Back on the Sax

Welcome to the cafe. That’s quite a collection of brass ponies in your stable, you obviously had your hand on more than a beer stein during those college days . Dipping into the cafe will be like old times. You may even get some leads on some 33’s.

    Tone Tremble noise with reed

Well it works. To work well I had to make a couple more adjustments. Found if I took a little more mouthpiece into my mouth, I was back in tune, but my Legere studios sounded stuffy in the high register. Changed to some Vandoren regulars and sounds pretty good. The Rico jazz also seem to work...

YTS23 leak between body tube and bow

Thanks to the advice and helpful info, the 23 is back and performing nicely. Just sealed the inside joint. I was not the first visitor to that location, found a heavy previously applied deteriorated coating .

    Tone Tremble noise with reed

Being new to all this and a sometimes awesome motorboater, my curiosity needs some clarification. How does one make this mouthpiece adjustment without going out of tune?

YTS23 leak between body tube and bow

Thanks. I haven’t noticed any intonation issues, the joint is solid, and can’t see that the bow/tube length is elongated. So nothing to lose by trying option A first.

YTS23 leak between body tube and bow

what I thought was light reflecting from a leaky e flat pad, actually appears to be a seam leak between the body tube and bow. It runs about 45 degrees, around the back. An easy fix if it were my 62 with a compression band connection, but the 23 looks like a crimped on bow. Can this be fixed ...

Microphones Connecting Pete’s electret clip on

I’m quite impressed with the sound quality of this inexpensive electret. I’m wondering how it is best connected as it appears to be wired as a self-powered ts 1/4” jack. Does this run direct into the mic pre ( I know make sure phatom power is off ) or is the powered electret better run thru a...

    Reeds Poor Canuck's reedgeek

It's possible these scrapers have not been burnished, when I used it, it produced only powder, didn't raise any fibers in the legere reed and did successfully flatten the reeds base. If you don't have one of these, I'd love your assessment of it and would be happy to mail one down ( we're both...
