Complete newbie from Dublin

Big welcome from me. On flying... Check with them direct. And try for something in writing. If it's a small plane, less chance of it working.
Thanks Kev..I've mailed Sax.co.uk to get the dimensions of the case so I'll go from there...Its a mid afternoon flight on a Thursday so I don't imagine it would be too crowded and from what I can see the case would be fine width and depthwise its just that it may be 7-10cm taller that allowable..

Welcome to the Cafe Dubsax :)

I'm in London in February to see Camilla George play Ronnie Scotts

You have great taste in Camilla George :thumb: it wasn’t too long ago that i was introduced to her music, her alto playing is sublime, the band ain’t too bad either ;)

I’ll be seeking out her quartet to go see them live, in the meantime I’ll have to make do with Lee Konitz at Ronnies :)

Cheers Trimmy, yes looking forward to next Wednesday alright..The late show is Rachael Cohen and she is excellent too (I've seen her twice now as a late show)..Lee Konitz would be an excellent show too but as getting to Ronnies involves a couple of flights and an overnight in a hotel I have to pick and choose as best I can (thankfully I have a very understanding but complete non-jazz fan wife) and I'm saving my brownie points for Nubya Garcia in April ;)

As for my sax buying I have been looking on Gear4Music recently and was tempted to buy there but I think I prefer the idea of buying from sax.co.uk as I can go into the shop and ask about set up etc (as the complete newbie that I am!)

Hi All,
Complete newbie from Dublin here. So new I don't even have a sax yet. Its been on my bucket list for a while (jazz fan for over 30 years!) as an instrument I've always wanted to learn. I'm in London in February to see Camilla George play Ronnie Scotts so I'm planning a trip to Sax.co.uk's place in the city center to possibly pick up my first sax...Lucky I've no neighbors!
Cheers
A
Welcome, with a name like that I thought you'd be playing some reggae,. I've been to Ronnie Scott's once , i saw dizzy Gillespie,. I had long hair holes in my jeans and looked a bit on the rough side, I wasn't sure if I would be let in, Ronnie was on the door and made me feel very welcome. He was a top bloke!

Just back from London. Now the proud owner of a sakkusu alto bought in sax.co.uk. Booked priority boarding on the Aer Lingus flight home and there were no problems at all even though it was a very full flight. Now all I have to do is learn how to play it

On a side note Camilla George was great in Ronnie Scotts
Excellent news, fun starts now :sax::sax:

Jx
