I'm excited to share a piece that has always been a favourite!
The SOTM for May 2024 ---> Horace Silver's 'Strolling.

A hard bop classic that features an addictive rhythm, a memorable theme, and accessible harmony—this piece is a perfect showcase of Horace Silver's genius. It's exactly why he resonated so well with those who weren't frequent jazz listeners!

I found that the New Real Book Volume 2 has this tune and it includes the harmony part as well as the melody. I recorded it with soprano on the melody and alto playing harmony and taking the solo, stealing ideas from the Horace Silver recording.

The backing track is from the Hal Leonard jazz play-along book of Horace Silver tunes.
