FOUND WT; Yamaha 82Z, 61, 62 Purple logo tenor

great to welcome you back to the 62 club, so to speak, a truely stunning raw and overall 'kin amazing sax, i will never change mine, and as merryfisher says it is a proper horn....
i also think i was just lucky with my specific 62 cos it even plays better than some other similar purple logo 62's, and other sax players who tried it seem to want it, but they got no chance haha...

I would think Mrs. Daveysaxboy probably at the very least deserves a medal - she must be a very patient lady - or a psychologist studying your very unique bahaviour patterns,,,:)

By the way enjoy the new (again?!) sax...

I think in the terms if we all done the safe boring predictable things in life the world would be very dull.My world is very good fun.Enjoy the ride folks. When your pushing up daisys you cant spend your saved up cash so enjoy it now, well I do.

BTW, have you seen the new YTS 63 to be released in June?

Ha ha...... I will end up getting another Z or a 61 tenor for sure but not to out do this 62 as it rocks. It really stood up well when testing along side the custom yamahas and selmers.Well I picked it so theres the final test sorted.

Yea I blew a very sweet original 62 yesterday.Very clean and in top condition. My silver 62 just soars.Well all yams do but this 1 just really sings.I'm going to enjoy my 3 gigs this weekend on for sure.Cant wait.

Glad you found what you wanted. Must admit the silver 62 was the one Yamaha I didn't take to on my search, but each to their own. Played the first gig with my black 875 last weekend and it was an uplifting experience - what an instrument......

Like I've always said Yamahas are so easy a blower. The best ergonomics for my hands. You forget your holding it its that slick.Good to hear your enjoying yours.

So Davey which neck is on your Yamaha is it the new 'E' neck or the 'G'.

Its the G1 neck. I've always loved the G1 tenor necks. Also had F1,M1,Purple 62 neck,61 necks but I always went back to a G1.Never blew the G3 or the new VI yam neck yet.

Playing a few John Klemmer tunes last night on my purple logo 62 tenor with a 40 year old Brilhart Levelaire mouthpiece and the horn just sings...I use to loath playing tenor but this horn has changed my tune (pun intended)...

Yamaha...talk. What do you think of the Selmers you tried, especially the ref.36?

For modern Selmers I like the Serie III Tenor best by far.2nd is the Ref 36 but don't like the keywork much.Nice sound though.Serie III is more my bag .I had 1 years ago but Yamaha Z tenors are nicer for me compared to the selmers.Saying that I got a great Yamaha 62 tenor now.Love it.As for the Selmer Ref 54 there just not me by a long way.Feel dead and stuffy.I like a free blowing vibrant horn.
