Zephyer super 20 sax? I thought they all had underslung octave keys.
From the 70s what we be a good price to buy it For?

That looks like a very late 'Eastlake' King super 20 where they barely resemble the Super 20.
No side pearls
No double socket neck
No sterling silver neck
No engraved cups
Less elaborate engraving on bell.
The Zephyr pretty much preceded early King Super 20's.

Anyway I hear the `eastlake can be fine horns.

Well, what's engraved on it?

If it's engraved "Zephyr" it's a very late Zephyr (they made them very late) and if it's engraved "Super 20" it's a Super 20.

No high F# key on this one.

The late King Super 20 made by King Musical Instruments didn't had underslung octave key. These King Super 20 necks could be used on SLM saxes as well. Play before you buy. I had a late (1982-83) and I had some trouble with the neck. The neck (tenon) was too small so they had to expand.

Depends on how well it plays. Everything with "King Super 20" engraved on the bell is , in my opinion, a little bit overvalued. A guy bought a Cleveland S20 with double socket silver neck from the early 60's for 25 000 s e k. A sax was ready for an overhaul. The neck was oval and some bubbles came out from the neck (the bow) when he played. The silver necks are cool but .... . I have seen some S20 tenor players that have installed braces on their S20 silver necks. The late S20 necks were sturdy .... . A neck from King model 615 student tenor can be used as well.

That doesn't sound too horrific price wise to me.
Look at this.
Just shy of 99000 s.e.k

In My Humble Opinion this one in the link is worth £3000 - £3400 or 44000 s.e.k (ish) but it has no double socket it's a late Cleaveland. Shops in the UK tend to want around £3700 upwards.

I think you are over valuing this, maybe £2000 - £2500 if it's in good shape. the higher price horns are Cleveland made with silver double socket necks, then they can go up to around £4500.

To ask a price is one thing, to get the asked price is another thing. But it's a lovely sax. No doubt about that.

I have owned three Super 20s. A fully pearl silver sonic from c 1951. Too delicate for me. I asked 20 000. 00 s e k for the sax (I sold vintage saxes back then). Nobody was willing to pay the money here around, So I decided to keep it. I played it on a jam and a guy that been listening, and having some beers, step forward me and asked if the sax was for sale. I hesitated ... and said - "25 tusen". I thought nobody would accept that price. The guy had been been working in Norway and was ready to empty his pocket and fulfilled his dream to begin learning to play the saxophone. I also played S20 a heavy used Eastlake S20 tenor from the late 60's early 70's. A standard S20. No silver and standard neck. It would cost me lots of money to fix that sax. So I decided to buy a brand new King Super 20 model 2416K. I bought it in Stockholm. A looker but not a player. Trouble with the neck tenon. And I didn't get the King Super 20 felling when I played it. I bought it for 7500. 00 kr ( a Yamaha 62 was less money). After some years and the last tenon expand and some soldering on the tenon, I sold it for 6500.00 s e k and became the lucky owner of a "The Martin Tenor Magna" 1959. The seller asked 2500.00 s e k for the Magna in original condition included a Berg Larsen ss bullet "2 chamber ". I had some "Hasselblad" and "Leica " stuff that he wanted so I walked to the bank and withdrew 1800. 00 s e k from my bank account. I had found a new love. But the Super 20s are special.

Went to test the sax as it turns out I did not buy it.
Sax was in good all round condition but it just was not for me. I didn't feel that instant "this is the one" as soon as I blew it.
Actually there was nothing great about it, not sure what all the fuss is about with vintage Saxes.
Wish I never sold my black n gold Yani 990.or my Yts-62. Meh! Sold them for a little profit, so dumb of me.
All is not lost, I still have my gear4music tenor which is good for a while.

I thought I was low balling the asking price by more than 50% 😉
Actually and more seriously from what I've seen on offer, I still believe it represents good value as a £3k to £3.2k horn from what has been available over the last 5 months or so. Granted that is attributed to the condition and originality along with the Cleveland build status.

I was referring to the one mentioned by the op not the Silversonic which, given it comes with the original case and is in vgc is probably a fairish asking price although not one I’d want to pay, but then again if I had it in my hands that might be a different story. The trouble would be that I’d be frightened of playing it. Sorry for the confusion.

Just curious, how old is the sax? Silver plated or nickel plated keys? I bought my King S 20 at Walles Musik, Drottninggatan in Stockholm. A good saxophone shop. Long time ago so I guess the shop is closed down. There is a Hohner tenor for sale. Nice saxes. According to the price you must prepared that it need some work. The Top-Tone? Good luck hope you find a new sax soon.
