YouTube videos

As we all know there's some fantastic stuff on YouTube that is impossible to find elsewhere. Sometimes I find I can download it - Mac, RealPlayer Downloader - and sometimes not. Inevitably, the ones I can't download are the ones I really want!

Anyone know how this works - i.e. what is enabling me to download some but not others?

there are a few bits of software that claim to be able to download videos from Youtube, I don't know which one is best, but I read this on one of the websites I just googled - "from time to time YouTube changes their video files hosting routine. So our YouTube download programs stop working. We work hard and usually fix such problems within a day or so" - so I guess it's a matter of keep trying.
I'm told JDownloader works well - http://jdownloader.org/

I too use Realplayer, but if it fails the http://keepvid.com/ has never failed to download. Not sure if your location might influence what is allowable though..

Thanks to you both. jdownloader seems to work fine but no luck with keepvid. As you say, it may be my location.

For Mac, I use FastestTube as an extension in Safari. It's very simple to use and works well.
