Your Favourite Picture Of You Playing

Saxophone Christmas, Akron, Ohio
December 9, 2023
30th year (with a few missed for Covid)
My first. I'm on the far left.
A nice variety of horns including sops, altos, tenors, baris and basses.
Short familiar tunes. Good thing due to 45 minutes to practice together just before the performance.
I think we sounded pretty decent.

Latest tour photos. Me getting furious at a photographer who kept putting his bag under my feet despite being asked at least four times not to. (the guy who did the same with a pint glass had it kicked over him.) And a low Bb with 180* twist

:):) Had a visitor yesterday who had taken a pic of me playing the Kholert 57 Tenor during the 3 year restoration of my boat. Came as a bit of a surprise actually as previously the Harbour Master had told me that he had recieved a report that there was someting wrong with the foghorn..(Joke BTW!!) Anyway, the pic is enclosed..Regards.. ;);)

:stoat:(To the tune of the last words of Let It Snow):
When there's no other place to go,
Let it bellow, let it bellow, let it bellow ... :thumb:

Don't know that it's a favourite exactly, but somebody recently sent me this flashback to the 1970s (I'm fourth from the left).

Since I posted this photo, a recording of this group has come to light. Only took about 50 years!. Far from perfect, but I thought it wasn't bad for a bunch of teenagers. I'm playing Clarinet 2.

Dvorak Wind Serenade

I don't think I've ever seen music stands of this design. Appears to be a nice space-saving design if they would need to be stored.

We had a lot of them at the school. I seem to remember they did stack pretty well. Made a hell of a noise if you knocked one over, though. Might be quite difficult to source them now, as this was in the UK, mid 1970s.

We had many similar at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music in the late seventies. They stacked nicely on trolleys, but were somewhat susceptible to being knocked over.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
