BOTM 'You Don't Know What Love Is'

@dubrosa22 - hey i gotta say wow, just for the sheer fact your tone is so much more clear, crisp sounding and defined and REALLY improved, you seemed to have put some work into your tone which is THE most important factor of a sax players personality in their playing, great work there Vaughan.

I love the Cool Miles Chet feel you are going for. I don`t know if it`s intentional or just a feature of your playing on this one?My 1st listen is on Laptop so I seem to have a mix with you a tiny bit too loud compared to backing...

Thanks Clivey, not sure about consciously trying for a Miles or Chet approach but I guess listening to Miles almost everyday for the past 5 years helps! I do subscribe to his less is more approach (heh, I can't do the 'more' bit yet! 😉)
When I mix recordings it's always so hard to set the levels - I either feel I'm too soft or too loud in the mix  This time you're right I probably made my levels too high. Thanks for the kind words 🙂

I liked your haunting tone on this, particularly through the melody.
There was a heavy vibrato effect, not sure if it was in the playing or in the mix.
A nice job all the same.
Cheers Nick, I appreciate the feedback and kind comments. The vibrato is intentional - not a mix effect. My vibrato is a work in progress. Cheers mate

Thanks for posting, I loved your version!! Haunting and soulful, really nice Vaughan!:thumb:
Thanks Di, a great ballad choice! I'm so glad I got a chance to record a version 🙂

Better late than never Vaughan. Very nice version, you can tell you have been working on the improv side of your playing..
Thanks Chris, very kind. Yep, I just finished the Gary Burton Improv course. Not sure if the results actually show at all - I feel I've learnt more about what I do wrong than actually started doing it right yet but I'll get there eventually.

Thanks so much Ian! I really did go for tone over everything else in this recording honestly. Your absolutely right tone is the sax player's identity and I've only started realising that recently (with a lot of help from you, Ian).

Thanks for listening everyone - now I can't wait for the September ballad :w00t:
