Hi David, really interested in your yanagisawa 901. I live locally in Nuneaton, would I be able to come and look at the horn in the next day or so. Additionally, you state you want bank transfer, will you take cash, it would be easier? I am buying the sax for my daughter for Christmas. I look forward to hearing from you, (tele number removed by moderator and sent in PC). Regards, Salv

man, you've got or have had an awful lot of saxes - I can't help but wonder how many mouthpieces you must have now !! 🙂Or how many clarinets and flutes too😉

No clarinets or flutes, and mouthpiece GAS has yet to hit me!

It's a thought though... how can you find the right sax without the "right" mouthpiece? Chicken or egg...?

Mouthpiece GAS doesn`t necessarily hit - I`ve totally avoided it thankfully - what does annoy intensely is the tiresome battle to find something which fits as you`ve not only got to find a piece which suits you and the horn for the music you`re playing you`ve got the reed choice issue as well ...........

easiest way to help this painful journey is to get advice from someone experienced In the Mouthpiece Ratrace who plays the same horn (or similar) on the same kind of music , this narrows it down greatly ..

The only people who can possibly enjoy the mouthpiece rat-race must have serious masochistic issues 🙁

2 for each type is actually a good idea as a backup even if playing for leisure is essential - also if a horn is simply not good with a piece , it`ll need its own .

It`s when you get to the stage where Ian Saxman was with his collection consisting of many vintage classics, some worth over £1000 (He listed a few on here) and even was considering a rare wooden Brecker piece priced at £3000 you know it`s time for the men in white coats to take you to a room with rubber wallpaper .......

BTW - you can`t count unsellable plastic doorwedges which barely fit the term "Mouthpiece" or even very usable pieces which aren`t worth anything in Yardsale terms (such as chewed Yam 4Cs or Bari Esprits - mint ones aren`t worth selling let alone ones with tooth marks in) . we all have a few of these which came with horns (altos typically) and haven`t the heart to throw them away

I hate that damn kinky blue Tribble Icon as apart from being fetishistic, it could point to anything in the post and gives no indication of what .

What do you disagree with Kev? - do you really think that not throwing unsellable mouthpieces in the bin is GAS - I keep them in case someone needs one or I have to give them away with a horn - include 4Cs that come with Yamahas in that . or are you not agreeing with them being unsellable ?

I have three tenor MPs, and four alto (plus one no name which is too big bored to fit!) plus Yani metal coming with the Steph next few days, and an Otto Link STM freebie too.

How do you get rid of it ? . it`d be a waste to throw perfect working 4Cs just because they`re a bit toothmarked, I bet all our places are full of stuff that "may come in" so are we all suffering GAS regarding mains plugs, spoons, wood screw, rolls of black cotton etc ? .....

I thought GAS was an issue when you can`t stop buying stuff rather than free-stuff (found in horn cases etc) collecting in a drawer - I don`t know anyone who actively goes out to buy nameless plastic mouthpieces or can`t pass up another chewed 4C - well apart from Ian Saxman maybe 😱

Utter nonsense Ads, of course you count them!
