A Yamaha YAS-62 MkI "Purple Logo" Alto Saxophone from 1988/89, S/N 022438. Some would say these late models were the best of the Purples.

In excellent condition for a 25 year old vintage horn. Some small spots under lacquer here and there. Very light scratches to left hand side of body tube and bell, and a few small random scratches here and there.
A small patch of tarnish under bell lip. A very very very shallow dent under the bow protector which Matt at Connolly-MIR advised to leave alone and is only noticeable on close inspection, hence I struggled to photograph it. Matt removed a tiny ding approx. 2mm in circumference from the bow whilst I was there a week or so ago. No other dents or dings. Pads soft and sealing well. I'd rate it at 95% for overall condition. See photos for detail. It looks absolutely superb.

Plays wonderfully as these models are legendary for doing, fast key work, great tone. I replaced the broken G sharp foot cork and also the neck cork which had shrunk. No other issues whatsoever that I can find, but as with any new or used sax you may wish to have your tech set up this instrument to your own preferences.

Comes in its original case with used but good condition Bill Lewington mouthpiece, ligature, neck strap, cork grease, rubber neck stopper, and Yamaha polishing cloth.

Priced at £1100 collected, 5 mins from J1/M6 or J20/M1, so you can play test it first if you wish.
Can courier (1-2 days) insured for £35.

Looks very similar to my alto...set up right these saxes are fantastic - you'll never need another alto...

Agreed (I have a 1989 one which is setup beautifully) - in fact my new ex-demo Stephanhouser may end up on the yardsale due to this, it`s a fantastic horn but I pick up the Purple YAS62 every time.
