Mouthpiece help needed.
was going to change my standard trevor james tenor mouthpiece for a yamaha 4c.
just recieved a email from the shop they only have a 3c or 5c as the 4c was found to have a crack.

what do you think would be the better 3c or 5c for a novice player like myself.:mrcool

Thanks for any advice.:welldone

I think I got a 4c with my horn so I would go wider as you will grow into it

Even the 5c is a very narrow tip opening - 1.8mm, or 0.70 in imperial. That's something like an Otto Link 4. I'd suggest avoiding the 3, and even the 4. When I started playing sax many years ago I started on what was deemed the 'standard' at the time, a Lawton 7, which is a .100. It was absolutely fine.

Go for a 5C or 6C, you can always buy lighter reeds at first if need be.
