Saxophones While I was away on holiday.....

Last week we had a few days away in Oxford for some R&R, just me and the other half....

on the first evening, driving from the cottage into town for dinner, he was forced to an emergency stop, by me screaming..."there's a saxophone shop"....

He was then forced to drive round the block and pull up in front of : http://www.saxophoneheaven.com/

However, as it was evening time, said shop was closed.

So he was made to drive me back the next morning.

Well, the upshot was, after a pleasant hour or so messing about with saxophones I came away the next day with a Yani S992.

It was a wonderful few days away....honest 🙂))

so, anyone got a bass sax for sale? ;}

Good story, and the unexpected encounters are often the best.

About 15 years ago some friends told me about a shop that they drove past "on the way back from mid Wales" that had lots of saxophones in the window and looked interesting. I never was able to identify it, or even get them to remember what county it was in !

I like Allegro in Oxford and Roger, its proprietor (although not everyone does !). I've tried out a lot of their saxes over the years, had lots of interesting chats about saxophone players and also bought a nice BW M2S tenor for a good price.

It's a good specialist shop that I hope can continue to flourish and not be wiped out by the internet and chain shops.
