I found this on Facebook and thought that Pigsquealer might get a kick out of it.

Yes, I am sure that @PigSquealer will get a kick out of that. Speaking of 1909, also found this article of interest:

Bassic Sax Blog: July 1909 Edition - Buescher Journal True-Tone

It states,

The addition of the Saxophone Family to the Military Band instrumentation adds an entirely new tonality to the ensemble, and opens up an entirely new vista for superb effects. The characteristic timbre of the Saxophone cannot be mistaken for that of any other instrument; it is somewhat like the Alto Clarinet or the Cor Anglais, but far more noticeable and of greater volume and incisiveness than either. Bands without the Saxophone in their instrumentation are missing one of the most potent factors of a well-balanced instrumentation.

Rest makes for an interesting read, including new features that are incorporated into today's saxes.

Side note: being a continental former Floyd fan, I had always thought the power plant above was some kind of cover designer fantasy. The first time I saw the plant (Battersea ?) for real from the train, it was a shock. This thing DOES exist ! Amazing piece of architecture, I hope it can be saved as landmark.

It's been redeveloped and now has shops, restaurants, bars, leisure activities, used for filming etc.

Yes it is the Battersea Power Station London UK. I remember the day the pig got loose. Bad piggy, It was all over the news here in Los Angeles. Everyone thought it was an advertising/promotional scheme for Pink Floyd. Flying pigs get remarkable news coverage.

The power station itself has quite a history. As other members have mentioned above it has been completely renovated into a public complex. Someday I’m going to have a pint there.

Snoopy flew sorties against the Hun until the Treaty of Versailles, June 28, 1919. Now honourably discharged with a penchant for a pint of Ginger Ale, he became a biker.

In other Pigsty News, model aeroplane flyers have joined the Sty, too.

Oz : Swine Flew plan - free download

Yes, that's right, this plane is named 'The Swine Flew.' If you'll look at the fuselage or engine pod side view and stretch your imagination, you'll note its resemblance to that of a pig's body; in fact, the profile's similarity to that barn-yard critter was so great that I initially called my design the 'Flying Pig.' How did the Flying Pig get renamed the Swine Flew? Well, there's an obvious and simple answer to that question.

Once I had the little critter built, I couldn't wait for a calm day for a test flight. [...] Dan Lockhart, my witty friend (even a bit corny at times, myself, and the Flying Pig. [...] Dan launched 'piggy wiggy' into the wind. As soon as she left his hand, we both knew we had a winner. [...] The plan worked. Dan and I walked over to the plane. We both drew a deep breath, and he exclaimed: The Swine Flew! What more can I say?

What more can I say? Swine still fly!
