Sometimes we can get bogged down with all the technical aspects of playing an instrument wether a relative beginner or a pro.
This 35 yr old mother. In my mind reminds us what it's all about. No she is not a Sax player. The instrument is not important. It's what you do with your instrument that matters. Well in my modest opinion anyway.

Another Susan Boyle moment. I love it. It is unfortunate that to reach that degree of spontaneity and expression on a saxophone takes years of practice to master technical challenges to the point they become effortless and seem to disappear.

Sometimes I sing a few bars of a song, and BTW I can't sing for nuts, but I can get across in a way, the expression. Then I try to recreate this sort of expression with an instrument. That's what it's all about. But nobody said it was easy.
