I visited the web site for saxophonist Sue Orfield of Wisconsin, USA. On the home page I noticed a sax that looks vaguely familiar but I can't place it. I sent mail asking this but haven't received a reply. So...what sax is that:confused2:? There's a gallery of pictures, also. Thanks!

She has a more complete photo of the same at:

Perhaps someone more familiar may be able to clue you in on the make and model of tenor.

The main body and bell looks like it is a post 1950s saxophone but the neck looks Conn made. Going from the internet I’d say it’s a Mk6 with a 10m neck, unlacquered.

Keilwerth, "Couf II" .... high F#. Seems to be a wide bow sax. Maybe late 70's or early 80's sax? Neck? SML and King had braces like the one above. But you can solder on a brace on the original neck as well. Mark VI necks are working on Couf.

Thanks, @thomsax Just to fix it in my mind I looked for pictures of a Keilweth Couf II. I found some here at dcsax.com The bell key guard, pants guard, bell key table, bell brace and strap eyelet all match. Thanks!

I look if the sax has a wide bow. There are more space between bell and body on these Keilwerths. Wide bows were used on New King, Tone King, Armstrong, Conn, King saxes..... . The tone is IMO bigger on wide bow saxes. Couf II have straight or rolled toneholes.

Sax Gordon is playing Couf Superba II straight toneholes with a neck with a soldered on brace. Dark, bright, perfect pitch ... whos cares .. it's Sax Gordon sound/tone.

Clarence Clemons was playing a Keilwerth SX 90,. I think he is blending in well with the trumpet? Big Man sound.
