What Happened??

Last week had lesson,two days before taking a exam everything fine,went to work,came home got sax out and total nightmare,started playing, sax was playing realy sharp and low notes had sharp edge to them.Tried tuning to a tuner,the needle kept either staying sharp or flat,no inbetween.Had to carry on and use it at exam,to late to get it checked out,so have to wait and see about result.Just dont know what could have caused problem.Seeing my tutor this week for his opinion,then get it sorted.Bumnote.

sounds as if you bent something, or a cork dropped off.

My first guess would be something in the mouthpiece/neck.
A leak is a more plausible cause.

It is often helpful to play the mouthpiece and neck (what I call the "tone producer") apart from the saxophone. It can help to quickly isolate the source of the problem.
