Vintage Conn alto, in silver plate. It's marked up as 'The Professional' and sold by Hawkes, but it's very much a Conn sax. It's a silver plate on and is in pretty good nick considering it's a ninety year old sax. Has straight tone holes, which many techs reckon is better than rolled. It is/has
You could play this now and wait for something to need doing (as I said, I was blasting out on it last night). Or you could have a couple of pads changed and the bell keys reseated and it'll play great. You could even have it completely repadded and have a superb vintage sax for the cost of a cheapo modern. Personally, if I was keeping it I'd go for the middle option. I would keep it but for the fact that I have 15 saxes at present.
So, a classic, genuine vintage sax from Conn at a fraction of the price of a 6m. Reflecting the fact that it will need a little TLC at some point soon, price is a bargain at £190. Postage will be extra. Buyer to pay PayPal fees or pay by bank transfer. Collection from central London is an option. Donation of 5% to forum fundraising.
- Front F (not all of that vintage do)
- Blue steel springs
- Gordon Beeson pads
- Forked F which still seals!
- Neck is straight and undented
- Dent free body (some signs of dent removal on the bottom bow, but not much, and good for its age
- Most silver still there
- Clearly marked as low pitch
- Original case, which is a bit worn and losing its vinyl but still has all its corner protectors, original catches, and amazingly, original handle.
