Variable speed CD player / recorder

Hi all, I'm wondering if you can help me...
my sax teacher has a CD player with a speed adjuster - she can play the backing tracks slower so you can get to grips with the piece before speeding back up to full speed.
This machine could also make copies of CD tracks at the slower speed, which can then be used as practice aids.

Not wishing to get into the issues of Copyright - which might exist - this is an educational tool for a single track at a time. The discs are then returned to her for re-use.

Does anyone know of a machine that will do this?

I will have a look at her machine in my next lesson, but I was just wondering in the meantime.

I play all my backing tracks through Transcribe! so I can loop sections if I want. I don't bother slowing them down (do the slow practice with a metronome first) but I don't see why you couldn't do it that way.

I used to use Audacity for changing the wave type of some recordings, back in the dark ages. I always found it really horrible to use, but I have form for not getting to grips with stuff like this. That's why Transcribe is so useful to me. At 40 USD its near enough free and is so easy to use its just about idiot proof. To record, well, I don't do much now but I can record and burn a CD on my Boss deck, but the intention is to get to grips with Reaper one of these days. I have the text books, I have the time, but I tried it two summers ago and I no longer have the will.

For what mandy wants Transcribe will do. I haven't done it myself but to upload the track and burn the CD should not be hard.

Yeah, I know its a great tool, but as said, two summers ago I began to work through book 1 and I got so far but no further. If I still recorded a lot I would get stuck in. One day. I used to record a lot of guitar, now its mostly sax, I dont. I got two terrifice Reaper books from Amazon and one day I will be fluent. And probably fly, too.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
