I currently use a vandoren optimum ligature with my V16 metal mouthpiece and I am very pleased with the sound I get. It is a versatile setup. I use the plate with the ribs running vertically to the reed, and I get a darkish sound full in overtones.

I tryed using the lig on my STM NY but it would not fit.

bend it, bend it, bend it! Just kidding. It would fit if you bent it, but since you're happy with the V16 mouthpiece I wouldn't go messing around.
