Me, I'd play the melody in the same key as the backing track, but each to their own....

indeed, starting note is F# on alto not B, maybe Dave you are thinking tenor key fingerings, i done that before.

you could just use that as a harmony and stick on another sax track, might be interesting

Strange thing is it sounds nicer to my ears !!!!!!!!! every version you do you have to make it your own :))):))):))):shocked: LOLS.As for the mp test I like the jumbo java so all sorted.

i think there are quite a few "standards" that no-one knows the right keys for:
Summertime, Autumn leaves and all-the-things-you-are spring to mind,
all guaranteed to start an argument at a jam session.

your Alto & mouthpiece combo sounds good, Davey, and nicely recorded.

Thanks Andy.I admit I mostly hate playing alto but the yam 23/jumbo java mp seems nice and it will do me for my little bits I do on alto.I've done summertime in the right alto key many times but this mess about it never even crossed my mind or ears.Done a couple of alto versions on here before.Pressed record and just closed eyes and blew.Strange how your ears just take you certain ways at times.Its different though,,,hey that's a good excuse for sure,,,lols
