Reeds using clarinet reeds on soprano sax

As I have quite a collection of clarinet reeds I wondered if they would work on a soprano sax

They'll probably work but they're not really wide enough. Give 'em a go.

Branford Marsalis is supposed to use clarinet reeds on his sop and his sound is great.

They played for me, but not very well.

The Bb clarinet reed is longer than a soprano saxophone reed.
So the result is to have a reed with a flatter profile.

It's almost the same thing using a tenor reed reed over a alto mouthpiece... or a bari reed over a tenor mouthpiece.
You just get out a "different" sound.
