Saxophones Upgrade from a student sax, what improvements can I expect?

I will at some point just pop into a music shop and have a go on a few but was just wondering: when buying a more professional/expensive sax what improvements can I expect to find? Different springs? Better action to the keys?

A more professional/expensive sax will have all of the things you mentioned, plus good intonation and better build quality, but don't forget that the way that sax performs will depend on you and your ability to bring out the best it has to offer

Actually, I think the biggest difference is that it doesn't fall to bits after 6 months.
