Saxophones Trevor James Alpha sax

Anyone seen the alpha sax by Trevor James

My wife wants one now because she finds my tenor so heavy and is too big for her hands.

But I think she would grow out of it too soon

What do you think http://www.alphasax.co.uk/index.htm

I think she will find most altos much smaller and lighter than a tenor and therefore more suitable. Obviously some altos are larger/heavier than others. Looks like this is aimed at small kids.

Hi Mamos!

There are lighter tenor saxes out there - my Yanagisawa T901 for example - which are perfectly decent professional horns.

Alternatively, there are all sorts of decent harnesses for such situations - I assume that she is not a "Big Lass" then;}.

Alto saxes are better, anyway, but that's another story!
Kind regards
Tom😎

Thanks Tom

It is an alto she is going for but when she saw the alpha sax her eye really lit up.

However I do feel she would grow out of it very quickly

I did your t-shirt design last night

I will send a copy of it in a minute so you can see what i mean

The alphasax is definitely aimed at children as a first instrument and your wife would need the other keys fairly quickly I guess. Don't know how much heavier a standard TJ Horn is than the alpha but mine feels a fraction lighter than my PM and it's a perfectly good starter.

OG - are you saying she should learn the anvil?
Cheers
