Ok, I am going to reveal ignorance here I suspect...........a B&H Emperor clarinet is being auctioned on a well known site as "a training clarinet". Nothing looks different about it, has 2 barrels which is not unusual for these, but what is a training clarinet? Not got plateau keys.....I am at a loss............so please tell and inform me accordingly!

Yup, agree, but where on earth has the seller found the idea that this is a training clarinet!! Just tickled my imagination that it has hidden qualities and maybe would help me get fit or lose weight........perhaps I am being unfair and there is something I am missing!

I imagine they mean student, although I'd classify the emperor as intermediate rather than beginner, if only because of the price.

Pete is right, emperor is intermediate.

In order of price, B&H had Regent, Edgware, Emperor then the Imperial 926 and the 1010 as the top level ones, with the difference between those two being the bore size (1010 was larger). I used to have an emperor as my A clarinet.

The bore on the emperor is still a little bit wider than on a modern 'french style' clarinet - you'll read differing opinions on whether you need a specialist mouthpiece for it (you definitely do on the 1010). I just used a normal vandoren on mine.

The Emperor clarinet used to be B&H's entry level pro clarinet. They revamped it, reduced the price, and relaunched it as their top student model. That's when I bought mine and I have never been tempted to upgrade them. I have two. Intermediate is what they are.
