A while ago, I picked up eight albums by Cannonball Adderley from Amazon, and I've been listening to them quite a lot this week. I was already familiar with his work on several Miles Davis albums and, while Miles is a hard act to follow, there's a lot of good stuff on these albums with Cannonball as leader.

As a brief taster of Cannonball's work, you could do worse than Work Song. His playing is so fluid it seems effortless. For a longer vid, I'm now watching this concert. I must look out for more Yusef Lateef!

Great stuff, I have the same box set - I think there is a second box set that is been released as well...I also have the Stan Getz, King Curtis, Jackie McLean and Gerry Mulligan box sets - all good.

Cannonball was a great alto player...always a sense of joy in his playing...
