Hi,

I bought one of Ian's Altos recently.
Customs clearance took so long that I received it yesterday, though it was shipped on March 28.

I was very curious today when I first played it....:)
So here is how it sounds with a different person at the small end:

I hope you like it!

Cheers,

glad it got to you safe, it is a great alto and beautiful to play and you sound great on it, such a free flowing sound.
glad you posted this.

Hi again,

Ian added a Saxgourmet copper neck to the package.
I played a tune using the SG-neck, then the original Purple Logo neck.
Finally I compared the sound to my Bauhaus M2-DL.

Hope you find it interesting, comments appreciated.
The recording is dry, no effect.

MPC is a Woodstone Studio Deluxe 6 with Rigotti Jazz 3med reeds.

Hi Guenne,

Having listened to all three recordings several times my own personal preference is for the overall tone of the second recording. It, to my ears, is more consistent across the registers. The SG neck seems thinner and brighter in the upper register and the Bauhaus is brighter overall. This is only my personal opinion and others may beg to differ. I would stick with the original neck.

The impro was very very enjoyable.:thumb:

Thanks guys,

I swapped necks today with a student who plays a newer 62 (silver).
My Purple Logo behaved totally different, less resistance, but a much smaller sound.
Lower register was significantly better in response.

@U CAN CALL ME AL: You are right.

Cheers,
Guenne
