Humour the godfather of musical comedy...

I had the privilege of seeing him live in Brighton in 1960. I had tickets to see him in Brisbane in 2000 but he died shortly before he was due to make the tour. I'm sure he would have said, "Unfortunately".

One of the funniest men ever - and I suspect also one of the nicest.

I wish I had had the chance to see him on stage. I think he is eternally funny, and, so I am told, was an excellent pianist by any standards.
