Hello all,

I have a solo and ensemble performance coming up and I was wondering if there were any entertaining sax quartet pieces that we could play. I played Libertango by Astor Piazolla last year and the crowd loved it, so we are looking for another piece to "wow" again this year. Any style is welcome! Thank you.

Great choice last year,. How about El Vito , better know as ole by John Coltrane,.
It can be quite rousing,. There are various versions on YouTube , early Spanish traditional to more modern versions.
This will give you an idea

Blue Moon or Pink Panther?

We played both at a recent concert and both were VERY well received.

Blue Moon, arranged by Kenneth Abeling, published by Lincoln Music

Pink Panther arranged by Arthur Franckenpohl, published by Kendor.

We (AATB quartet) are currently working on Boogie Stop Shuffle (by Mingus). It's a bit of a struggle, even at half the suggested speed (which is around 240 BPM), but really fun to play.

I think it's a "wow" song..

Have you found the Nigel Wood Saxtet arrangements? Great arrangements, audience and player focussed.
Probably chimed in too late...

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
