Saxophones Student Music Supplies

Shouldn`t be a problem, it wasn`t long ago when I spoke to Becky about the discount (I was asking after a backup Horn - I got a used Bauhaus in the end so didn`t take up the offer), she can also get Stephen Howard to check them over before sending too .. they also do ex-display ones but no discount of course so the new ones are better value.

Really sorry to hear that. I hope I've not offended anyone, sincere apologies if I have.

I'm just off the phone with Becky and now have a sparkling new tenor sax preparing to wing it's way up north. Pity it's for my daughters Christmas and not for me...

Hi John, when it arrives would you or your daughter like to post a review here as there don't seem to be many J6 tenor reviews around. Many thanks.

Hi David, I don't play yet, always wanted to but no-one ever got me one to play. I have decided to get myself one now so watch this space..
I will get my daughter to review it and post it when she gets it. There will be a bit of a delay as santa is bringing it (she's away at uni so doesn't believe in Santa anymore..I hope) so she's not getting it until christmas morning..I know I'm a bad dad..>:)

Robbie passed away earlier this year, sadly for all concerned. His wife, Becky, is the person to speak to.

Robbie was such a friendly person. And he tried really hard to bring quality instruments at great prices.
Both his jericho saxes and phoenix clarinet were excellent for the price.
Thanks Tom for informing us as I haven't contacted him since January.

I hope his wife and partners continue and expand what he did. I always thought his jericho saxophone line had a great future.
I bought one for a friend and it was unbelievable that we got such a usable sax, with character for the price of a repad.

This is the point, the Jerichos cost no more than a re-pad would .......

Keeping the thread going, they`ve started selling the older (now cheaper) Pre-Jericho "Academy Scholarship" series , I wonder what these are like and how they compare to the Jerichos . the Tenor is £100 cheaper than the Jericho (though the gap is less than that given the Cafe Discount on the Jerichos unless Becky allows cafe discount on these also) .

The Curved Sops look very much like the JPs but that means little - they`re not cheap (as much as the Tenors)

Also the old line of Pre-Phoenix Clarinets were called "Academy" , how good were these and how do they differ from the Phonenix . they`re still listing them at £99 - £40 less than the Phoenix

You see the Scholarship saxes on eBay from time to time but I don't think I've ever seen a J6 there, and only once in the small ads (Paul here bought that one iirc). That might suggest the difference in quality? Speaking to Robbie about them both I formed the opinion that the J6ii is the one to have and disregarded the older models. It would be interesting to have a Scholarship up against a J6ii but I can't see that ever happening. I'm not volunteering this time!

I`d imagine there is a diff in quality but the Scholarship ones have been out for yonks so are bound to find their way on Ebay sooner or later . not seen many though .

Looks like the Jericho is the Alto/tenor to get on a budget, the Bauhaus Walstein for a bit more cash and the Elkharts for Sopranos definately are a safe bet if the Deluxe one piece straight is anything to go by (the 300 Curved experience isn`t relevant due to age, the new ones may not be as "Next step is a Yani" as the old)
