This is a great clip of the soulful sound of the late Steve Marcus playing with Buddy Rich and his band. I love the way he leads into a fantastic blues solo. Its also very reassuring to hear a top class muso fluffing some of his notes although with the complexity of the piece, I'm not at all surprised.
By the way, can any one identify his set up?

Terrific changes of mood between the opening and closing cadenzas and the accompanied solo, which is very sensitively played. I'm not usually a fan of walls of notes stuff, but that is really quite accessible.

Looks like a young, out of focus, Andre Previn at the piano. Surely not?

Do not believe it is Previn, not enough dandruff but definitely not Garner. Who ever, amused by the repeat phrases in the solo.
Does anyone know any pianist who originally played with Manne and then held down a chair with Rich?

Great player.

By the way, can any one identify his set up? Can be a Otto Link Super Tone Master. According to the one-screw lig it could be a Otto Link Master Link, but I can't se any trails on the mpc, so I don't think it a Maste LInk.
