I have a gig in 2 years (don't laugh - I've only just started to learn but want to play live in my 50th year in 2 years!) I have a friendly guitarist in a band who says he's happy for me to do a spot in 2 years so I'm all booked and ready. The shades are on order and I already have the hat - but I do need a stage name don't I - any ideas anyone? I know I'm asking for trouble here but I need inspiration!!!

Tofu With Quartz
Mechanic Protector
Jolly Waffle
Stray Mite
Gaping Reaper And The Biscuit
Pass Beyond Landing
Jizz Of The Ballerina
Toward Cranberry
Technical Crest
Meaty Hunk

Just a few of the band names on offer at http://www.bandnamemaker.com/. It's a random generator so 99% of them are utter weirdness, like the ones listed above, but occasionally it throws up something that at least gets you thinking.......

Great to hear that you have something to aim for, I'm not very imaginative so will leave stage names to someone else.

hmm - good idea Colin the bear - but mine'd maybe be Radnor Cullen . . . . . . not very rock 'n; roll is it!! I also heard you put the name of your first pet with your Mum's maiden name - that'd be Whiskey Locke??? Any better!

I think you're supposed to combine your first address with the name of your first pet

In my case Emily Burnside

... or is that my pornstar name?

Oh well I think you can use the pseudonym for whatever purpose

Our singer uses a stage name, the only two i have come up with for myself are "Fraz"...something or "Mad Sax Fraser", but I've always hated being called Fraz and don't want to give the impression I've topped 40 or so people and spent most of my life in jail! so don't think I'll bother, just saw Colin's suggestion of using your mothers maiden name which to be honest would work pretty well but unless you're the caliber of Engelbert Humpadink or Shakin Stevens do we really warrant one?

What you mean Kath's your REAL name?!??!?!?! :w00t:

I think your stage name should depend very much on your stage image. Will you be wearing anything else other than the hat and shades?

How about Kitty Kat Sax Kitten?

Where did I put my tablets...

Have you got or ever had a nick name? I use "Taz" as its easy for people remember and fairly catchy, also there's another Pete (my real name,) in my band so it saves any confusion. And to be honest I love being introduced on stage as "Taz." It also helps people to remember my email which is Tazonsax. Simples!

at my age I will SO be wearing far more than a shades and a hat!!!

I've only had the boring nicknames . . . . . my maiden name was Locke - so I was called Lockie :(

I guess it is going to be jazzy. Blues does not require shades and hat; it requires some misery. in that case it is enough to put a two-words misery between first and second name. like "Kath Stolen Car Locke" or "Kath Dinner Burning Locke"

In the jazz world there was a "Lockjaw Davis" that has been used already. I usually recommend an added middle name reminding either first or second name. Kath "Kattie" Locke or Kath "Locker" Locke or "Lucky Locke"

For some strange reason I never needed a stage name.
