I’m sure I’ve asked this before, but maybe not here (and I can’t find where I did ask)
Anyway… does anyone have a sax quartet arrangement of SophiaTown by the Soweto string quartet?
I would love to play the piece, but my own searches have been fruitless.

I’m happy to buy the piece, if someone can point me in the right direction, I’m not asking for any dubious photocopy.

Thanks.

Edit: in case it wasn’t obvious: I’m looking for the sheet music.

I've made a start on transcribing the string quartet prior to adapting it for saxophone quartet.

I'm using Sibelius to notate it and this is the first time I have encountered the Alto Clef (that's what the viola uses) - how strange !

The piece is in G concert and the harmony goes I-IV-V-I round and round throughout. It is in eight bar sections that repeat, so once I have transcribed a section, I can reuse it and just check for any differences.

It's got a sunny "Township Jazz" feel that reminds me of Abdullah Ibrahim's piece "Mandela".

That would work well as for saxophone quartet too.

That's a nice piece - have you heard it done by a sax quartet ?

It doesn't sound too difficult so I might have a go at transcribing and adapting it - but that will take me a long while.

No, I’ve not heard it by a sax quartet. I just think it’ll work.
It’s a lovely piece and every time I hear it, I think how it would be good on sax.
