I got as far as 'twinkle, twinkle,' and had a flash-back of my Swedish grandfather standing over me with a switch with me at the piano until my mother let me escape to play baseball. Maybe that's why, years later, I began playing sax by ear, and now, an old man, am trying to learning by note. But fun is fun, sorry, up yours Grandpa. snort...
unfortunately whenever my piano teacher caught me doing this, or noticed me 'feeling' my way around the keys she would bring down a sharp metal ruler across my knuckles.Nomad
Remember a time when that wouldn't have been true?I do hope teaching methods have changed. Nowadays, one never knows how far away the kid's pistol is.
I'm trying to improve my sight reading so it's back to basics for me along with a useful instruction book.... clapping the beat, taking note of the highest/lowest notes, trying to following tune in my head and other techniques before a note is sounded
Dunno if it'll help 'cos only started last night but it is least methodical
Oh just the usual... tinted spectacles, soft collar, splints, strapping and trussWhat safety gear do you wear while doing all that...
You work in Health & Safety then !!What safety gear do you wear while doing all that, paper cuts can hurt not to mention get infected, and don't get me started on the impact damage and stress damage clapping can cause, to not only the hands, but wrists, elbows and shoulders too, not to mention the repetitive strain injury you're just asking for. One can never be too safe you know, and music can be very dangerious, why do you think so many musicians die young? They didn't all party hard.
