I thought there were growls (I'm never 100% sure what I'm hearing because I have such awful sound reproduction on PC) which I think shows you have the confidence to experiment. Also you maintained a steady note at the end that showed some control, which is also a good sign.

Thanks alot 🙂 i just learnt the g blues scale yesterday so thought i would mess around with it today on my new signature sax,not sure what keys i was playing in throughout the noodle lol but no it had the g blues in there, was just messing around really 🙂

I enjoy learning a scale and then messing around with it mixing it with other notes/scales i have learned making my own tunes 🙂 much prefer doing that to reading music and playing (cant really read music very well 🙁 ) even if i dont really know what im doing/playing lol i just come up with things by ear at the moment.

thanks

Luke

A lot of people play almost entirely by ear, which is good, but if you can keep to some form of discipline playing long notes and running through exercises you can form a strong platform on which to noodle to your hearts content. Pete's Sax Taming books are a very good resource to add structure to your instinct to just play.

Similar threads... or are they? Maybe not but they could be worth reading anyway 😀
