Living in splendid musical isolation I have long been wondering where you go to find new interesting music. Radio? Well R1 has nothing interesting in daylight hours, R2 is where people go if they've stepped off the world 'cos it's turning too fast, R3 good but not a square meal, R4 no music to speak of, R6 no DAB coverage in my area, commercial stations... I don't do, never have, may never.

"Where's the talent and how do I find it? Dunno. Too Hard.", was pretty much my thinking

I was dimly aware of Bandcamp through the discussions between Aldevis and Pete Thomas about marketing Aldevis' ouevre but I didn't know much else. Last night I bought an album by Marram (wot I knew about 'cos I've met one of the geezers in the band) which happened to be on sale via Bandcamp. A few exploratory clicks later and I was sucked into the vortex

Now, lot's of US dollars later I have new, original music in a collection that I haven't really updated since vinyl and CD were first competing in the marketplace. If last evening is anything to go by I'll soon need to follow the 12 steps to recovery from online music dependence

Anyone else afflicted by Bandcampitis or infected by other sources of online musical talent? At the moment I'm delighted and excited in equal portions, but my delight and excitement will be squished when My Love goes through the bank statement (it's a while off I hope)

I take it you're in the UK. iPlayer radio can be worth a trawl (and it's free):

Yes UK... I think I remember correctly the vote was No

Anything that involves online streaming in my house is hopeless 'cos t'internet round here reaches a heady 0.5MB/sec if the wind's in the right direction and then sundry offspring poach the data with their phones so my PC often can't do uninterrupted sound with the leavings
