Setting up as a private teacher

What do you need to do to set up as a private instrument teacher?
I am thinking insurance - public liability; any one I need to register with, or let know - house insurer, inland revenue etc?
I feel I should at least know what I might need to do, before the hoardes of students arrive!

Thanks

Register as self employed with HMRC, consider DBS (prev CRB) check if teaching youngsters. Not sure re ins but if teaching in your home possibly.

HMRC obviously and consider joining the MU (public liability insurance and legal backup). I've never bothered with a CRB check and only one person in the last 25 years has asked.
