I have bought the above on a whim although it's not here yet. Cost 500 notes from sax.co.uk. I was going to buy the BW one (for a hundred quid less) but thought I might be able to get parts more easily in the event of a failure. My tenor and soprano are Yanisagawa but since I only want an alto to help with my composing I wasn't too bothered about long-life as it isn't going to be gigging with me.

Was it a whim too far? Has anyone else had one of these 'very special offers' from sax.co.uk? How was it for you?

I bought one of the tenors and I am very happy with it indeed. Blows easily and is very responsive. I can produce a much wider range of tone and volume than I can on my BW tenor. I just love playing it.

I think it was a bargain.

Now there's a thing. It has arrived and first impression is that it's not a bad piece of kit at all. Everything runs very smoothly, fits properly and seems pretty well-built. I like the sound and the un-marked mouthpiece seems to work very well with (in my case) Rico Royal strength 3 reeds. My only gripe, and it's a small one, is that the cluster of G# Low C# etc keys, is a little further away than they are on my Yani tenor so it's a bit more of a stretch, especially to low Bb. Not really a problem for me, just a case of adjusting my hand position.

So far, I recommend it.
