I can only dream 🙁 Wishing you good luck with the sale!
Can you record IOTM with it before the sale? A gorgeous horn.
If only I were good enough to do that then I might be thinking of keeping it but unfortunately I am now thinking that day may never come so why hang on to it, gave it a blow last week and it certainly has something special about it but it's a waste of a great horn just lying in its case ......John
I will not go off topic,
I will not go off topic,
I will not go off topic,
I will not go off topic
... but I don't believe you are not good enough to own it, if you like it.

Need my numbers to come up !
I'll dream with Melissa
I`d decide based on how much you need the cash - some here wouldn`t notice a mere two and half grand increase in the bank balance after the sale, to others of us it`s a hell of a lot of cash and to have a horn either lying idle or not a main instrument worth that much would necessitate an instant sale (hence for instance my 62 Mk3 Alto sale) .. another point is would the cash be better spent elsewhere such as a Sop upgrade ? Bari upgrade ? Even a Tenor upgrade (I don`t know what you major in) ..
I think it's a case of financial consolidation on the run up to retirement and there are quite a few things around me that would be more advantageous in a cash state, and I'm very happy with my 62 another great horn and one I'm sure lots of people would love to have, if it were my living and it earned me money then it might be different, the nearest I'm likely to get to pro playing is probably busking and you certainly don't need a ref 54 for that, all I need is to find one of the people you have mentioned to take a fancy to it now .....John
John if you don't have any luck selling here you could try RNCM or Chetams. There may be students looking to upgrade and that's a great price.
Yeah, same here with the 62MkIII (though way off retirement) , I`m a Tenor player and will never gig Alto due mainly to being in Eb (I`d have to learn all the pieces again with different fingering) so only play at home where a 21 is more than good enough . I`ll miss the complex refined sound and the superb keywork of the 62 but it`s an Extravagance I can`t afford to keep
I've had a (brief) blow on that horn (thanks, John). I'm not qualified to comment on the sound or intonation, etc. But the action felt beautifully light and smooth. Good luck with the sale, John, if you go ahead.
Yours too !! ...... Not much dosh around at the moment it would seem .
it has spent most of its life with me sleeping in its original case,
