Any body interested in buying my Selmer Ref 54 Kookabora Alto sax, I have owned it for approx 3 or 4 years and it has spent most of its life with me sleeping in its original case, I tend to use my 62 and didn't want to go scratching it around the neck strap ring, it plays perfectly and it was serviced earlier this year by Steve Crow in Leeds a guy who specialises in saxophones, there is some spotting under the lacquer but very minor and some slight tarnish in the engraving, I will try to post some pics later, the asking price is £2500 and at that I'm losing £300 plus I will throw in free delivery and 5% to the charity ......John

[Admin Edit - There were 2 types of Kookaburra limited edition altos, the standard and limited. This is one of the standard ones which were made in 2006 only, about 330 were made according to web sources.

There may be some confusion over model/designation - the altos were only made as reference models, this is the alto equivalent to the Ref 54 Tenor (Ref 36 Tenor was not available as a Kookaburra). The reference altos are essentially a MkVI with modern keywork.

I've split out all the OT posts into the OT forum. Please keep future posts here directly related to sales/posts which will help the sale.

I've had a (brief) blow on that horn (thanks, John). I'm not qualified to comment on the sound or intonation, etc. But the action felt beautifully light and smooth. Good luck with the sale, John, if you go ahead.

Just bringing the ad back to the top in case some of our newer members haven't seen it, just given it a blow and she's a really sweet horn, but she's still for sale, my 62 is well good enough for me,and it's such a waste of a great sax......John

The sax is now sold I handed it to Woodwind exchange to sell on a commission basis and they sold it after quite a wait but at least it has gone now and I came out of it with a little more than selling on the forum so everything's good
