I think that lots of the European-assembled MkVIs did not have any serial numbers on the crook. I know that my tenor (1962) and alto (1957) don't.

There was also a thread about this on SOTW.

Rhys

PS If there are serial numbers in both places it would be good if they match !

I would think that most MkV1 saxophones bought in the UK wont have a number on the crook. A friend of mine bought a MKV1 alto in the USA and that one has the number on the crook. They don't all have MKV1 stamped on them either. The serial number identifies MKV1 saxophones.

I live in Exmouth Devon.
Bernie. There was a period when all the mk 6s sent to the states had the serial number on the crook and body of the sax.

Non US assembled 6's didnt have the number on the crook.
